NFT launchpad & Web3 Wallet
The NFT launchpad acts as a Web2 to Web3 bridge for campaign websites, ensuring a seamless transition. Users can create non-custodial wallets via email or social accounts during the signup process, improving security on-site and removing the need for external tools. This empowers newcomers to Web3 with a robust and reassuring safety protocol. Additionally, the platform facilitates cryptocurrency and fiat purchases, guaranteeing a seamless onboarding experience for users venturing into the Web3 realm.

Project Background
The project focuses on the synergy between MadWorld and Ucollex, sibling companies in the digital space. A SWOT analysis highlights strengths, including collaborations with renowned IPs like Bduck and Atom Genesis – Astro Boy. However, challenges include limited awareness and converting Web2 to Web3 users. The opportunity lies in streamlining onboarding for Web2 users and improving their NFT purchasing experience. The project aims to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3, fostering growth and innovation.
Design process
In this project, we employ the Double Diamond design process, a methodical approach comprising discovery, definition, development, and delivery stages. This systematic framework ensures a comprehensive exploration of design challenges, fostering creativity and delivering user-centric solutions.
Discovery
We dedicated one sprint (two weeks) to the discovery phase, during which we engaged in activities such as understand the 2FA tech requirements, persona analysis, Qualtrics survey, and customer interviews.
Define
I led a design sprint in the define stage, collaborating with the product manager, engineers, and experts to establish goals, define success metrics, create user journey maps, and sketch ideas for testing with potential customers.
Develop
During the development sprint, I crafted designs for various scenarios. Meanwhile, I established a design system for the campaign page and wallet, facilitating seamless white-labeling processes.
Deliver
In the delivery sprint, I worked with developers on QA and implementation, and with a business analyst on the tracking plan, Intercom strategy, and customer feedback for future iterations.
Discovery
Customers pains
We conducted surveys and research, revealing that 76% of our potential customers are collectors. Their primary motivation for collecting artworks is their support for brands or creators. However, a major challenge they encounter in purchasing NFTs is uncertainty about legitimacy. Furthermore, the lack of understanding of web3 wallet and the necessity to transfer and convert crypto multiple times during the purchase process raise concerns.

“I want a seamless campaign experience to purchase, join events/games, and manage account and assets—all on one platform.” – Adam Lee
Discovery
current user flow
Web3’s onboarding for new users, especially those new to blockchain, can be overwhelming. After discovering the NFT they desire on the NFT campaign site, customers are redirected to sites like OpenSea to complete purchasing, but many drop off due to the complex process of setting up a crypto wallet (e.g., MetaMask). This involves learning about public and private keys and securing them with seed phrases. The process is more challenging on mobile, where requires additional app downloads. Overall, it takes over 15 minutes and is riddled with unfamiliar steps, posing a major barrier to entry in the Web3 world.

DEFINE
Customer journey and wireframe
With the outcome of technical discovery, a 3rd party SDK will be used to allow customers create crypto wallet with their email or social media account during signup. I planned and led the workshop to map customer journeys, identify pain points, and explore opportunities with the trio: Product Manager and Lead Engineer, to define the MVP.

Define
Testing
We recently conducted usability testing with four new Web3 users, focusing on wallet creation and purchase processes. The customers are recruited from Discord and Facebook groups. The key findings from the testing are:
- Participants navigated the wallet creation process smoothly.
- Most completed the purchase flow in under two minutes.
- Concerns raised about the accessibility of advanced wallet settings.

We conducted the test by asking participants to complete key tasks with the prototype, such as signing up for an account, purchasing their first NFT, tracking their order, and retrieving their account with 2FA if the password is forgotten.

Develop
Design System

I built the design system with tokens to easily adapt and white-label it for any campaign site, ensuring brand consistency and customisation flexibility.

Deliver
final design
Based on the insights from our technical spike and research feedback, we streamlined our project scope to focus on the essential features for our Minimum Viable Product (MVP). This strategic refinement has led to the development of an MVP that empowers customers to effortlessly connect or create a wallet, place orders using both fiat and cryptocurrency, track their orders, and manage wallet settings all in one integrated platform. This approach ensures a seamless and user-friendly experience, catering to the diverse preferences of our customer base.

Prototype - onboarding and purchasing
To streamline the wallet creation and purchasing process, the signup and wallet creation steps have been condensed into three simple stages. Meanwhile, the purchasing flow is consolidated onto a single page. This design allows customers to swiftly onboard and complete purchases in under 60 seconds.
